So what’s this obsession with showing Wolverine’s healing factor in real-time? Seriously, Insomniac, do we need to see every scratch and bullet hole miraculously sealing up like some kind of grotesque biology lesson? It’s like watching paint dry, except reverse because the paint goes on shitty walls magically fix themselves and I’m left wondering why we can’t have actual gameplay moments instead of this cinematic science show.
They add this fancy feature, but does it do the game justice? It’s there to distract us from realizing that beneath all those visual gimmicks, it’s just another button-mashing hack and slash. In every fight, Wolverine seems to be getting messed up more than he deserves—and honestly, whoever is into seeing a dude’s skin fixing right before your eyes probably also loves watching grass grow. But whatever, maybe portable consoles have simpler graphics so they’re not showing hyper-realistic character repairs, thank god for small mercies.
And another thing, can we talk about how ridiculous it is that despite taking massive damage every two seconds, he always keeps his flannel shirt intact? Now I get that Logan’s all about style and those classic mutton chops but come on—not even a single tear on those sleeves? Either that’s magical fabric or it’s just lazy design. Might as well wrap him in indestructible Kevlar and call it a day.
At least give us some decent storyline or dynamic interactive elements instead of relying on superhero patch-ups to keep people hooked. It’s just getting old. I’m done.
