So, I stumbled upon this list of Xbox Game Pass open world games that are supposedly the cream of the crop for 2025. I’m not entirely sold, to be honest. I mean, sure, they look great on the surface, but isn’t that always the case? Like those fast-food burgers that never look like the ad? Ugh.
Anyway, they were talking about games like ‘Futuristic Wanderer’ (or whatever generic title you wanna give it) which promises a world full of infinite possibilities. Really though? Infinite? I bet five bucks you’ll hit an invisible wall sooner than you’ll find an interesting NPC. At least some developers put effort into their worlds—I’ve seen a couple of decent ones while browsing late-night deep dives online.
Then there’s ‘Galactic Outpost 2’. I got tired just reading about it, let alone playing. Exploring endless galaxies sounds cool until you realize every star system is a copy-pasted nightmare. Oh, and someone mentioned something about ‘Mega City Skirmishes.’ Apparently, it’s got some groundbreaking AI (or so they claim). Like, supposed to be on a whole new level of “players won’t feel alone”. Yeah sure, until one of those NPCs starts walking through walls. Invisible walls, mind you!

I’m not saying all these games are without charm. There’s something magnetic about them. Maybe it’s the promise of escape or living out a virtual reality where, surprise, you’re the hero. But god help me, why do they always have patches that take forever to download? You sit there, with your overpriced coffee in hand, just watching that loading screen mock you. The rage!

To be fair (if I must), some titles lost in the shuffle deserve a mention. Like those niche indie gems hidden under piles of corporate marketing. Gotta dig through the Xbox Game Pass treasure trove to find those gems, though. Like a digital dumpster dive.
Yeah, my eyes still hurt from all that screen time. Maybe I need to get outside. Or not. Who am I kidding? I’ll probably find myself back in a pixelated city chasing fake crowns. The irony, right?
