So Kojima drops another Death Stranding trailer, and surprise surprise, it’s basically a mind-boggling mess that makes you feel like you’re watching an abstract art exhibit while severely sleep-deprived. Can we talk about this “puppet” character? What’s with that? Are we supposed to guess its significance by staring into its soulless eyes, hoping the existential crisis within them resonates with ours? Does Kojima think we’re David Lynch-level detectives now? Jeez.
Oh, and then there’s the villain with the red mask. Because why not throw in a character that looks like they’ve walked right out of some dystopian spinoff of ‘Phantom of the Opera’? Are we exploring a new continent or just taking a vacation on an acid trip? I get that we’re shifting to more combat and vehicle exploration—fantastic. But can we have one trailer that doesn’t make my brain seethe with confusion? It feels like I’m trying to decipher an ancient text with incomplete vocabulary lessons.
