So this whole obsession with OLED screens, yeah, let’s talk about that. Look, I’m sure someone’s going to tell me how ‘vibrant’ or ‘true to life’ those colors are, like I didn’t already know about it every time I turn around and someone’s shoving another ‘must-have’ OLED thing under my nose. Makes you wonder if they think I’m color blind. Check it out yourself, because maybe I’m just old-school (which is the nice way to say over it), but is it really necessary to gush about OLED displays being this magical portal to visible pixie dust?
Oh, and don’t even start me on burn-in prevention tech. What happened to screens that just… worked? And this whole race for better HDR performance, it’s like they’re chasing a ghost while ignoring that half the time they’re just glorified picture frames for screensavers. You sit there craning your neck trying to appreciate those deep blacks and what do you get? Eye strain. That’s what.
And with all the fuss about the ergonomics of the Steam Deck 2 or whatever other gadget everyone suddenly needs, it’s like we’re in Olympic training for competitive lounging. Fear not, they say, we’ll get you 40fps like anyone besides hardcore PC gamers even knows what that means. Yeah sure, that’ll really show the Switch who’s boss. Whatever.
