oh great, more samurai with guns

Alright, so now Ghost of Yōtei is giving samurais guns? Because apparently slicing your enemies with precision-crafted katana in feudal Japan wasn’t enough excitement. They’ve decided that, hey, let’s throw in some clunky matchlock rifles just to keep everyone on their toes. Like, was it necessary to mess with the samurai’s whole aesthetic just for a sprinkle of gunpowder chaos? A samurai game should be about honor and skill, not about firing off a weapon that takes five minutes to reload.

And let’s not ignore how bizarre it is to be running around snowy Mount Yotei. Someone clearly thought about adding a bit of “holiday charm” by setting it in the snow—because I guess frosty landscapes scream epic battles, right? I’m sure slipping on ice and misfiring that rifle will really add to the gameplay. It’s like someone slipped a kid in marketing a Frosty the Snowman VHS and called it research for the game’s setting.

Now they’re going *all out* promoting this as a flagship PS5 game for 2025. Meanwhile, I’m wondering how much fun you’ll have trying to mix matchlock mechanics with classic samurai swordplay without ending up annoyed at the whole thing. Between those long reload times and freezing temperatures affecting your controls, I’m guessing most players will be gritting their teeth through half the gameplay.

Honestly, sometimes it’s like ninja stars are being thrown right at your face as if saying “deal with it” when all you wanted was a simple yet compelling return to basics. But whatever. Samurai and guns it is. I’m done.
