so, wolverine is back. and i’m amazed but skeptical

I just caught wind of Marvel’s Wolverine gameplay trailer and boy, my head’s spinning. Wolverine’s one of those characters who’s just eternally relevant, you know? There’s this rugged, indestructible vibe about him (not just because of those adamantium claws) that never gets old. But there’s this part of me that’s like, can they really make a good Wolverine game? Sometimes games based on superheroes just go a bit too ‘meh’, you know?

Anyway, Insomniac’s behind this, and those guys normally do a solid job. I mean, have you played Spider-Man on PS4? Insomniac nailed the swinging, the city, pretty much everything. But Wolverine? It’s a whole different beast. It’s all about clawing, slashing, and that gritty underground stuff (ugh, I can almost smell cigars and whiskey through the screen). That’s not the easiest vibe to capture in a game, right?

I saw this sneak peek during the Playstation State Of Play (yeah, the one where everyone gets hyped and dramatic). So the video kicks off and there’s this dimly lit bar scene. There’s an air of mystery and let’s be honest, nothing hits more than seeing Wolverine just chilling at a bar. Suddenly, bam! Everything goes haywire and all the classic chaos follows. It’s something straight outta the comics.

Can I just say – I’m here for the R-rated potential because let’s face it, Wolverine isn’t exactly the family-friendly hero. Claws equals blood, and I mean, if they tone it down, what’s even the point? I spotted this random article on gameplay mechanics recently and thought, ‘Yeah, this Wolverine thing could go either way.’ Will they let the beast out or simmer it down to some PG-13 nonsense?

And the open world rumors floating around have got me both pumped and low-key stressed. Imagine being able to run around as Logan, doing gritty side quests, tracking down bad guys. But what if it all just turns into one of those mind-numbing experiences where you complete this mission or that mission and everything just blends together? Ugh. I don’t know, maybe it’s the skeptic in me.

My eyes still hurt from watching that trailer too many times. I need coffee. Ugh.
